About Me

I have been riding for thirty years, much of that under the excellent guidance of some of the top horseman in the world.

In the eventing world, I've worked very long term with (in my opinion) the two best eventing trainers in this country, Jimmy Wofford and Ralph Hill. I've also worked with Lucinda Green, Ginny Leng, Richard Meade, Bruce Davidson, Jim Graham, and Tad Coffin. In dressage I've worked with Ken Jameson, Janet Black, Peter DeCosmo, and Jim Graham.

In eventing, I have had many wins and top placings at every level. I was USET long listed in the years 2002-2004 having completed the Radnor ** in 2002 and the Fair Hill International *** in 2003. The Rolex Kentucky **** was next in our plans but it was not to be, as my horse went lame and had to be retired.

In dressage, I've been successful through fourth level, with scores to 75% and an AHSA Zone championship. And I've trained horses to Prix St George. Check out the "My horses" page for more competition details.

I have been teaching for over 25 years, with students successful through Intermediate level eventing, Preliminary * 3 day events, and fourth level dressage.

I have a very analytical personality, and have the ability to break down and explain every little detail involved with riding. Both the how's and the why's. Which makes me an extremely effective teacher. My students improve quite rapidly, and turn into independent, knowledgable, and SAFE riders.

I also have a great ability to read a horse's personality, and know how to get the best out of every type of horse.

A few extra facts:

  • I was an Equine Veterinary Technician at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky, which is one of the most prestigious Equine Hospitals in the world.
  • I lived in England for a while, and am British Horse Society certified.
  • I went through the "B" level in pony club (started late and got too old to go for my A)
